MOUNT KENYA ASCENT

ASCENT MOUNT KENYA TO POINT LENANA 
– OPTIONAL CLIMBING*: TO BATIAN 5199m AND NELION 5188m PEAKS –

Day 1-2: Arriving in Kenya
Flight to Nairobi. Hotel transfer, accommodation.. 

Day 2: Naromoru Gate 2400m and the Weather Station 3050m
We go by car to Naromoru Gate (2400 m). From here we start climbing on the spectacular Mount Kenya. Mount Kenya (Kirinyaga) is a mountainous massif that has a maximum altitude of 5119m, being the second highest mountain in Africa after Kilimanjaro. The center of the massif is 15 km south of the equator. In 1997 the mountain region was declared by UNESCO World Heritage.
Today we will climb up to 3050m at the “weather station”, passing through 10km of equatorial forest.

Day 3: Teleki Hut 4300m
We will climb up to 4300 m at the Teleki Hutt, leaving the equatorial forest in the tall Malathin area and then in the alpine clearance. The route is about 14 km.

Day 4: Summit Day! Point Lenana 4985m
Before the sunrise, we climb to the highest point accessible without technical equipment: “Point Lenana” 4985m, where waves a Kenyan flag.
After this enviable performance, we will go down to Teleki Hut and then to the “weather station“, where we will sleep.

Day 5: Return to Nairobi
After breakfast leave the park and return to Nairobi.

Day 6: Flight back home
Airport transfer. Flight back home.

*NOTE: For climbing on the top of Nelion (5188m) or Batian (5199m), the tariff is increased by $600 and are required very good climbing skills!
