Trekking on the Ruwenzori Mountain, Climb Margherita Peak
Located in southwest Uganda, on the border with Congo, the Rwenzori National Park includes the Rwenzori Mountains, called “The Mountains of the Moon”. Thanks to the extraordinary beauty, the richness of lakes, waterfalls and glaciers, as well as unique biodiversity, Rwenzori was declared UNESCO World Heritage. The flora of the region, is considered among the most beautiful in the world and the most beautiful alpine region of Africa. Margherita with the 5109m is Africa's third peak, and our target on this trip.
Day 1: Entebbe
Pick up from the airport.
Transfer, accommodation at a Guest House.

Day 2 - Fort Portal
Transfer by car to Fort Portal. accomodation at a guest House.

Day 3 - Nyabitaba Hut 2650m
In the morning, transfer to Nyakalengija, where we are starting the hike of about 5 hours to Hut Nyabitaba – 2650 metres.

Day 4 - John Matte Hut 3350m
After breakfast, we continue to climb after crossing Mobuku River, along Shafer Kurt Bridge. The ascension lasts 5 hours among the bamboo and giant lobelias, ending the day at John Matte Hut - 3350m.

Day 5 - Bujuku Hut 3977m
The route of this day becomes muddy through the Bigo Bog altitude swamps to Lake Bujuku. The average time for this section is 4.5 - 5 hours. We will sleep at Bujuku Hut 3977m.
Rubber boots and trekking poles are necesary.
Optional here it can be done a one-day hike to Mount Speke.

Day 6 - Elena Hut 4541m
Today we will start not so early because we have only 3 hours of hike. We’ll climb on a rocky and steep crest passing through Scott Elliot's step. We’ll reach the "base camp" for our final assault at Elena Hut (4541m).

Day 7 – Summit Day! Margherita Peak 5109m
We’ll leave very early morning,starting with a rocky climb and then after crossing the glacier we’ll reach the summit, Margherita Peak 5109m, the highest of this mountain range. Today you need crampons and ice ax.
After descending to Elena Hut, we’ll continue the descent using another route, to Lake Kitandara. Accommodation at Kitandara Hut (4023 m).
Optionally, for whoever still has the energy, here's a one-day climb on Mount Baker.

Day 8 - Guy Yeoman Hut
On the descent we’ll admire beautiful landscapes towards Congo. Then we’ll cross the swampy area again, and after about 6 hours we’ll reach Guy Yeoman Hut (3,261 m).

Day 9 - Kasese
Descent to Nyabitaba hut (2650m) and beyond, outside the park at Kasese. Overnight in Kasese at a hotel.

Day 10 - Return to Entebbe.
Transfer by car to Entebbe. Overnight in Entebbe at a guest house.

Day 11: Flight back home
Airport transfer. end of services.
